Biography

The son of a county prosecuting attorney and a family lawyer, Morgan M. Smith was no stranger to the practice of law even before his decision to attend law school.

He received his Juris Doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh Law School where he served on the Journal of Law & Commerce, participated in the PA Trial Association, and secured the highest grades in multiple classes, such as Commercial Transactions and Secured Transactions. While in law school, Morgan received experience that is valuable to his clients by interning at the Ohio County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the US Attorney’s Office, Northern District of West Virginia. While in these positions, he aided in the prosecution of both violent crimes and white collar crimes. Upon graduation, Morgan began his own firm after he was admitted to practice in West Virginia and Texas. He was later admitted to State of New York as a practicing attorney.

Based in Austin, Morgan is active in the local startup ecosystem and serves as a trusted advisor to both first-time founders and serial entrepreneurs navigating complex business challenges. He advises founders, startups, and investors through the full lifecycle of business formation, fundraising, operations, and exits.
